The Nadir is an oasis of storytelling. The Nadir is a studio focused on developing and producing film, digital content, theatre, art, music and experiences from
an experimental and sometimes multidisciplinary lens. The Nadir is also a place of exploration, a place of truth and experimentation. An open space where all are welcome.
In the Nadir, we must all come as we are. It's also a place where we remember how uniquely connectedly our stories are.

The Nadir is a studio focused on developing and producing film, tv, digital content, theater, art, sound and immersive experiences from an experimental, experiential and sometimes multidisciplinary lens.

The Nadir is also a place of exploration, a place of truth and experimentation. An open space where all are welcome. Our focus is multiplatform world building, developed within communities in a holistic way.

We partner with tech innovators to create stories that defy expectation and are multi-medium from inception. The goal is to focus on stories and storytellers and create multiple experiences around them.

We will develop different artifacts and bespoke pieces, both physical and digital, to extend and enhance these experiences. We incubate talent from the ground up, encourage our communities to invest in artists and their multi-medium stories - we hope to create a feedback loop that never ends. We find this opens opportunities for audiences of all varieties to participate. Inclusivity and access is at the foundation of our work.

Founder Rashad T. Bailey is an artist & producer. He has advised such companies as Asia Society, The Studio Museum in Harlem, New York Live Arts, PlayCo, Seaview.

Bailey is co-founder of RaDa, an art collective based in New York City. Bailey is a member of the Theater Producers of Color (TPOC) cohort. He is a 2022/23 artist resident of Colt Coeur, a theater company based in Brooklyn.

Kenosis

Kenosis is a short art film series exploring my artistic and spiritual revelation in nature during the 2020-2021 pandemic juxtaposed against memories of my childhood and adolescence and coming of age as a young black boy & artist.

Timeline: During early 2023, the filmmaking team will be filming, editing and further developing this short film series. We will be exploring screening and festival entry in spring 2023.

Just Cause

Just Cause is a digital/physical hybrid project and interactive story interweaving the failures of the drug laws, larger personal stories of those affected and the parallels with my own experimentation with substances and the impact of drugs on my family.

Timeline: We have a final project deck and have currently been exploring the 3d printing logistics. We are also narrowing down platforms and designers to test. We plan to have prototypes for December with a full launch planned for early 2023.

Black Janus

Black Janus is a satirical film exploring the characters of carver edison and chief zero through the lens of the american culture wars, afro futurism, dual figures, the art world and post pandemic new york life. It's a story distilled through the generations.

Timeline: In the early stages of the script. Needs further development with an eye towards a spring 2023 shoot.

The benefit of any protocol involvement is to get on the ground on incubating new artists, all of whom have established work and fan bases. Nadir wishes to expand the view of each artist, and to create platforms for their work to be experienced. We are at the beginning of how art is consumed and how media and culture will be influenced by this new wave.
